Thesen Islands is a premier venue for holidays and fine living on the sunny shores of the Indian Ocean. Situated near the town of Knysna, the islands and surrounds offer a very wide range of beaches, restaurants, harbour, and sporting facilities, including golf, tennis, squash and water sports.
This Architect designed and master built home offers the complete Thesen Islands lifestyle experience. Acres of parkland and stunning views of the canals and famous Knysna Heads afford a mix of tranquillity and activities of unsurpassed variety. Walk out of your garden gate to enjoy the beautifully landscaped bird sanctuary and parkland awash with colour and alive with bird life. A short stroll takes you to the tennis and squash courts and children's recreational area with the main swimming beach close by. Walkways, cycle paths and vehicle speed limits of 10 Km/hour, together with a single manned road entry to the islands with 24 hour security, give complete peace of mind. The private jetty in front of the house gives access to the waterways and opportunities for boating, water skiing or swimming in the turquoise blue lagoon.

We use recycled water for our garden, pool and our cleaning. Large submerged water tanks were installed during the original construction and these provide a source of water captured from the rain during the short wet season. We were also one of the early adopters of Solar on Thesen Islands to replace the Eskom State-owned Utility, which is unreliable and a major source of pollution with its reliance on burning Thermal Coal. The system uses roof panels and Lithium – Ion batteries. You can view the technology at: https://blueplanetpower.co.za/ In the first six months of the conversion to solar, we saved 700,000 Kg of Carbon and all the metrics on the system indicate that there is sufficient energy to be largely self-sufficient in future. So there is very little risk of the lights going out while you are enjoying your holiday. We hope that other owners on the Islands will begin to adopt similar energy solutions to our global climate challenge

The Accommodation
The main house has 3 very spacious, beautifully furnished double bedrooms all en suite. There is a separate flat with a double bed, sleeper couch and fully equipped kitchenette and shower room. One bedroom downstairs overlooks the pool with sliding doors out into the garden. Every bedroom is as pretty as a picture and has a view of the canals, the bird sanctuary across to the Knysna Heads in the distance. Each bedroom has a balcony and private space to sit out and enjoy the gorgeous surrounds!
Location
Stone de Croze P40 is situated on Plantation Island in the middle of Thesen's Island and overlooks the bird ponds and park lands. The canals are across the road with private jetty. There are wonderful activities for children including a great playground close by, a beach with safe swimming in walking distance and a bird sanctuary with a bird hide to watch the nesting activity. Wonderful estuarine walks and close proximity to cafes, shops and restaurants.
Activities
Where does one begin? The Fishing experience in the Knysna Estuary and along the coast is world famous. There is a wealth of fun filled activity to enjoy on the Island and one can park and walk just about everywhere. On the island one can walk, play tennis, squash, go fishing, do water sports on the canals and eat out in super restaurants and cafes in the Harbour Town and Knysna town which has some trendy shopping. Brenton and Buffalo Bay beaches are a short drive away and all Blue Flag beaches.
